Default SC Inshore Guides Association

" I've been talking to some of the other guides in the Georgetown area and we're looking at developing a inshore guide association. I'm not sure exactly how this will pan out or how we'll address those with a history of poor conduct. Let me know if the MI guides have an interest in helping form this association. To name a few we'll look at: member marketing, standards for association endorsement, conservation projects and our combined economic impact.

Let me know your thoughts....."

this is a post recently on the charlestonfishing.com website.

A great idea. What can we do to get this going and how can I help?

Paul

Default South Carolina Guides Association

Just an update on the progress of forming the guide association. Lawyers and Accountants are working on getting the proper government forms filed and we are working on getting all the requirements met. As soon as we can we will have a website set up and start electing officers. As soon as this takes place, we will start contacting guides in the different areas and planning our first official meetings and start soliciting membership.

The main purpose of forming the association is to promote our industry. Our group, here in Georgetown, is always amazed at just how little of the county's advertising money is directed towards fishing and other water sports. It seems that if you aren't a golf course or restaurant, you just don't get mentioned in the advertising.

We plan to change that!

Thanks,

Gene Dickson

Default SC Guides Assn.

If you guys want me to help you just let me know. JUST A SUGGESTION....we could use the "web presence" of GoFishSC and make this the "official" we site of the SC guides Assn. You guys could help direct the site content. A thought would be that we would only have association approved members on the site. Our goal would be to promote the SC fishing guides and include guides as directed by the association. Association members would be given a listing on the site. We could organize and promote conservation. By gaining strength in numbers we could give the guides more political clout. Individual fishing guides are less influential than the group as a whole. Let me contribute and help by working together!!!!!!
