Default Valentine's Day Reds

Fishing Report 2/13- 2/14
Valentine's Day Reds

After the cold weather had subsided we found the Redfish bite a bit more cooperative. With a welcome break from the wind, the fish were easily found moving along the bank. Schools in the 25-27" range off to themselves in the middle of the flat and plenty at 18" along the grass edges and behind points. Seven slot fish and one 27" on Friday, four slot fish with a 27" and a 25" on Saturday. Multiple fish were caught within the same areas by easing out after hook up. Water temp at 52 deg. All fish were caught on Gulp New Penny Shrimp and the Molting Peeler Crab. Baits were on a #2 circle hook with no weight on the bottom, with a light twitch. Not much on the "gimmicks" but we employed an additional shrimp scent to the baits after some time in the water.

Rick,

I enjoy reading your posts, Still trying to get the hang of things on the site so I might be slow to respond. As far as the Gulp "Gulp Alive' Had not tried it. Let me know what your using and any methods would be great. I have had good results with the Gulp baits I've been using. Didn't know what the Diff. was.

There is a difference between the two,,,but the guys I had in the boat this summer from Berkley wouldn't tell me what it was. They were pretty hush-hush about the chemistry of the product.
They did say that the "Alive" was better though. I do use both with good results!

There is a few tricks you can do with this product,,,just use your imagination.........

Rick,
I found out today that the difference is that the "Alive" comes in a bucket with all the extra juice and the reg. Gulp is in the pouch. Thats what I was told. You are right though, You can't beat it! I need a Gulp sponsor, How do you go about it?

Yea,,,I know about the pouch and the bucket,,,but the chemistry is different between the two, thats all the guys from Berkley could (would) tell me.

As far as a sponsor,,,,good luck.
Ever since the big buyout, I cant get anything like I could before then.

Rick:

Do you use this as a jig to fish off the banks? I typically use a carolina rig, but most of the pics I have seen of yours involve a jig head and does not free float...
