Default Ban Tuna Netting

Tuna are gonna wiped out!!!!!! Commercial netting in bahamas!

read this on swordfishingcentral.com..... it was posted on another Forum....copied & pasted here.

The Tribune

"It's indiscriminate fishing so everything that comes up in the net is going to die in it.

"And from my understanding they are going to be targetting tuna in the Bahamas, especially in the Abacos and in the Tongue of the Ocean, and they are going to exploit them out.

"There's nothing of that magnitude here now, and having seen tuna decline over the past 20 years, I am now concerned something of this magnitude would really hurt our industry."

The guys up the coast in the Carolinas fish those YFT all summer long. Think how hard it will hit them. They should be all over this but I suspect the only meaningful pressure "might" come from our government informing the Bahamians how it will have a negative impact on the economy of the mid-Atlantic states.

Their plan is to commence commercial tuna netting throughout the Bahamas and export the tuna to the Mediterranean. The Mediterranean needs the tuna because this type of fishing has already decimated their natural tuna resources. They are now moving into our waters to decimate ours!
